Carolinas Specialty Hospital Opens New Pineville Facility
TV 14 Interviews CSH On the Day of Their Move
Patients and staff at CSH were interviewed by TV 14 on how much patients like their new home. Carolinas Specialty Hospital is Charlotte’s only long-term acute care hospital and they had prepared for this move for one year before it took place on September 11, 2013.
Doctors and staff say the new, 40 bed facility not only provides state-of-the-art technology, it also focuses on the patient’s quality of life while in long term care by offering larger, sun-lit rooms and a therapy garden.
“We were in a tight location which meant we had to limit what types of patients we admitted because we couldn’t fit all the equipment in one room. Now we have better access to help all the referring hospitals,” said Dunmyer.
CSH moved from a rented space at CMC-Mercy Hospital to their new Pineville location where they have two full floors for patients. Since patients at CSH have complex conditions, the move took nearly eight hours to relocate the 28 patients, but everything went smoothly.
